this is an absolutely amazing tale of a young familyin the scottish highlands forced off their land during the highland clearances & the deperate journey they undergo to make a new life for themselves.

first is the struggle to make ends meetin glasgow where a proud father is forced to depend on his children to bring home the money by working long & tiring hoursin the cotton mills before begining a long trip to the new coloniesin canada.

the new lifein canada promises much but they find themselves having to fight for the land once they get there before finally finding peace & happinessin the new land.

this is a read for all ages & i would recommend it for all to read.
