BS7671 2001 On Site Guide - By: Mr. Csj Langham, 26 Mar 2008
Now, why would anyone want to buy this?
The new BS7671 2008 will come into force from July 2008, so it seems to me, a little daft to go & buy a version that is to be supersededin three months time.
However, the little book is invaluable as a quick reference, & has all the essential facts to handin a (large) pocket sized format
A Must Have Document - By: Fletch (ElecLocal), 24 Jul 2007
If you are engaging on any sort of electrical work this is a must have book, as the title suggests it is a very useful book when you are on site & if you just want to check something quick. Having said this remember the 17th Edition is out next year.
Excellent, clear and pocket sized! - By: J. W. Booth, 18 Jan 2007
We teach the Bpec Part P Defined Scope here at PPL Plumbing Trainingin York. This book is an excellent resource so students on the 5 day Part P course. The diagrams are clear & uncomplex which makes it easy for students to understand all 16th Ed regs. We would highly recommend this book to all taking a Part P course.
The sparky 'bible' - By: Paul Baldry, 21 Dec 2006
Well this is the fount of all knowledge relating to electrical installation to BS7671 & if you are doing an electrical course then this will allow you to revise so much easier than using the college books & not having the book to refer to whilst at home. You'll also need a copy to show the inspector for 'Part P' registration, that is if you can't borrow a mates copy.
Just keepin mind 17th Edition is rumoured to be out the 3rd quarter of 2007 so if you can wait, it may save you to keep the cash & use it to pay for another update course you'll need.
Excellent guide to domestic installations - By: Ben Blaukopf, 18 Nov 2005
For a non-electrician, at first sight this book is quite impenetrable, being a set of tables, diagrams, & specialised notation (Zs,In,R1...) that makes little sense until you understand the language. However, when you delve deeper, & read individual sections, the language begins to make sense. If you already know how to wire a fused connection unit & are willing to learn more, then this will take you to a *reasonable* (albeit not comprehensive) understanding of how a domestic system works, & the requirements of BS7671.
Particular sections of interest are the diagrams on earthing systems, how to use specialised test equipment & how to downrate cable for usein conduit, insulation, or other current limiting situations. There are plenty of diagrams to illustrate different situations.
This isn't, as said before, a comprehensive guide, & it does require supplementary knowledge acquired from experience/other reading, but as a handy reference for design & test, it is invaluable. A great on site guide.
