The quality of the spells ore quite good. I dindn't like two things though: the first one is the actual layout of the book, it looks very dated; the second is the fact that each spell after the title goes directly into the ritual, I would have liked to see an introduction first.

I wouldn't recommend this book for beginners into Paganism/Wicca/Witchcraft. The book includes a method of performing black magic, goes into explicit detail & then says ''you shouldn't do this''.
For practicing Wiccans or Witches who adhere to the Rede this book won't be useful for you. It also includes rituals on how to disempower a person which goes against what the Rede advises. If you are Pagan & do not believein Karma or the Law of Threefold return then this book shouldn't pose you a problem, however it may niggle your conscience. Futhermore it includes ''Christian Rituals'' which to me, have no placein this book, considering Christians are not meant to practice magick, & lets not forget the history of the Burning Times...
Like an above reviewer has already said, there isn't enough detail on why a ritual should be performed given the situation.
If you are interestedin purchasing a spellcraft book I would definately recommend Ann-Marie Gallagher's Spellcraft, which contains about 50 practical spells to enhance your career,health,prosperity... with easy to get hold of ingredients.

This has been recommended left, right & centre. I finally bought it, quite excited. I was very disappointed. It would be narrow minded of me to say I didn't like the Christian versions, but I didn't. It put me off from the start. Christians aren't supposed to practise magick & Witches/Wiccans/Pagans aren't supposed to manipulate someone's will. So who was this book intended for?
The information on black magick was all very detailed & then went on to say don't do this. Why include detailed directions on a forbidden form of magick? Also, some of the rituals could have included a "do this ritual whenin this situation..." It needed more explanations.
Some of the rituals are nice, but I like to include the Lord & Lady more than this did. I wont be recommending this book.
Prayers or spells? - your choice! - By: , 07 Aug 2000 The ideal book for beginners - & if like me, you are finding the changeover from Christianity to Paganism to be more than a little fraught with guilt, then this book should ease the transition for you. (Largely speaking) all you need to perform a large & various selection of spells/rituals is the book, some candles & yourself. Buy, practise & enjoy! P.L., Norfolk, England
Okaaaaayyyyy............. - By: sophie@webster84.freeserve.co.uk, 16 Apr 2000 I found this book quite informative and, as the title says, practical, but as I am only a beginner I don't know what it meant by petitioners candles. It did not provide any information to describe & explain what petitioners candles are, so as a result I can not perform any of the rituals properly. If anybody could e-mail me & explain, i would be very much obliged. Apart from that, I feel that the book was actually quite good.
