I am a drama teacherin Ireland & have found this to be a really excellent book of theatre games & ideas, including lots of short scripts to use with young kids, with lots of games i have never come across, although there is a certain degree of cross over with "the gamester's hand book" it is a more comprehensively theatre focused book than that.Well laid out, clear & great fun, with lots of great variations offered for each game. First class.

Finally! A bockbuster book of games - By: Mrs. Deirdre O'Riordan, 13 May 2003 This has got to be the best book I have ever bought! I have been teaching drama herein Cork(Ireland) for the past 15yrs. so I am constantly seeking out new ideas & books containing them. I must congratulate Ms.Bany-Winters on putting together one of the most comprehensive & fun books I have ever come across. Her ideas are set outin large print with amusing little animations to let you see the game she is describing. The instructions are givenin a simple & straightforward manner, making it easy to scan quickly down the page rather than having to study the instructionsin detail before attempting to play the game with students. I have already recomended this book to several of my colleagues, who have gone & bought the book & are now of the same opinion as myself having read it for themselves. I would highly recomend this book to anyone dealing eitherin a classroom situation or for those who are teaching drama to fee-paying stundents. Hurray for Ms. Bany-Winters, continued success to her & lets hope we see some more new & exciting ideas from her soon!
Great book for anyone who has works with children's drama. - By: , 30 Apr 1999 I recently taught an enrichment coursein drama & used this book as well as others to start off all sessions with the children. My drama students actually started to request that we play the games foundin this book more than any of the other games I had available. These theatre activities can be usedin concert with any dramatics program out there. It is a wonderful stepping stone for any dramatics instructor to add to their collection.
An excellent introduction to drama and improvisation - By: , 09 Apr 1999 I run The Independent Theatre Workshop - a theatre school for tots to teensin Dublin, Ireland & I am always on the lookout for material for my drama classes. I found this book easy to read & easy to use. Many 'teaching' books are so long winded that you never get far into them. This book follows a clear & logical path taking the young actor from the very basics, through to more complicated improvisations & short scriptsin a fun & imaginative way. I often pick up this book & open it at random to select a game or excercise there & then - with great results! The instructions are clear & reader friendly & although every game & activity has a specific 'lesson' to teach, they all without exception actually WORK with children - a rare qualityin this day & age when children know what they do & don't like & aren't shy about letting you know it! This is also the perfect book for the non -drama teacher to use to introduce drama into the classroom. Excellent for use with all children from 7 - 12 years (although my teens & young adults love the stuff too!)
