struggling through life with an alchoholic father - By: margaret sharp, 21 Dec 2007
Our dad has since died of 2 strokes brought on by alcholism, i bought this book for my sister & i, we had a troubled upbringing, if it wasn't for our mother we would have drownedin our dad's world. He had a tough life being the eldest of 9, my grandfather was hell to live with. This book brought out the best & worst of our personalities, i am the red crosser {always trying to help someone else}, whereas my sister is the perfectionist [everything has to be just so]. We cried when we read this book, we recognised ourselves, our personalities, life has been tough we were constantly put down so many times. We are managing our lives so much better now. READ this book & expect a rude awakening.

Excellent reading for women brought upin an alcoholic home or for those around her who want to understand her situation. It was enlightening, humerous & easy to read.
Simply extraordinary, very clear, complete and also witty - By: , 07 Apr 1999
Not an easy book to be read but full of humanity, awareness & insight brought by all the personal experiences. I would highly recommend this reading not only to daughters of alcoholics & dysfunctional families but to everybody who wants to take her lifein her hands.
