Perspective changing book - By: K. E. Barrett, 05 Sep 2008
I bought this book after seeing a video on peme chodron.I find her writing style to be easily absorbed, although some ideas presentedin the book are a little thought provoking, that said this book will open up your heart & your mind to a more compassionate way of thinking & acting.
Size of book - By: Patricia King, 19 Jul 2008
I found this book very helpful, as her books are. I use them as reference for different things going onin my life & my practice. I gave my other copy to my son, thus the need for a new book. I was disapointed that it is smaller (4" X 6 3/4") than the usual size & the one I had before, but the text is fine. Keep thisin mind when ordering it.
"Don't seek others' pain as the limbs of your own happiness" - By: R. S. Rabab, 26 May 2007
This book provides a gentle introduction into some of the basic practices within the Buddhist school of thought.

Some of the practices that were presented included Meditation, Slogans of Atisha, Tonglen & the Four Limitless Qualities (Loving-Kindness, Compassion, Joy & Equanimity).

The practices aim to present an alternative ways of dealing with common emotions & feeling that we encounterin our daily life. The practices are presented as a way of helping us break away from the self destructive patterns of behaviours & attitudes that we have accumulated & were forced to pick up along the wayin our lives. The key ideasin the book revolve around the opening of both the mind & heart to all the emotions that we experience & the situations we find ourselves in.

This was my first book on this subject, & as such I found it a little of a challenge to follow some of the concepts that were presentedin the book, & my only minor criticism is the lack of sufficient examples that could have been used to illustrate some of the points that were being made.
