Not so premium Ukrainian Book - By: S. D. Cogle, 02 Aug 2009
I found it lackingin detailin certain areas. Whilstin Kiev it doesn't tell you where to buy train tickets, as it wasn't at the station. It says nothing about the system of payment on Marshootkas. The maps lacked detail. Essentially it felt as though the people writing hadn't really explored the cities/country but had gathered the information from others. I was travelling with a Pole who luckily had an excellent Polish guide. It is a useful guide but you will need to back it up with something else.
Thin on information - By: Surya, 13 May 2009
Although probably the best guide available at the moment for Ukraine, it is lackingin detail for all but the main tourist spots. Ukraine is an expensive country to visit & this book is out of date on costs of hotels etc & does not offer muchin the way of budget accomodation. The internet is much better. Not a lot of help on travel details either. I have been a fan of Lonely Planet for years but this one is not one of the best.
Lonely Planet Ukraine - By: S. Mortimer, 20 Apr 2009
The book does not cover some areas I want to visit, not had a chance to test it against the real thing (Ukraine) yet so cannot vouch for its currency, I think for a country Ukraine's size would have expected more, but perhaps there are a lot of "empty bits".

Delivery was prompt & goods receivedin good order.
Usual story though, price is cheap & postage excessive - go figure...
Buy Bradt Instead... - By: reader/listener, 27 Aug 2007
I've livedin & travelled around Ukraine for the past year. The LP guide is (as I often find with LP) out of date, inaccurate & all too brief on areas which deserve more. The entry for Vylkovo (for example), a townin Southern Ukraine, runs along the lines of 'I've never been there but lots of people who do go there like it.' Is that REALLY what a good, helpful guidebook should say? All information abut Odessa is thoroughly outdated (almost all hotels, restaurants, bars & clubs listed no longer exist), and, where other readers may not appreciate the 'background' information provided by Bradt, I think this information adds to a much fuller understanding of place, people & culture. If you're coming to Ukraine for more than a few days, spend a couple of extra quid & buy the latest Bradt guide (2007) you WILL NOT regret it, will (probably) NOT be frustrated & will at least have accurate, up to date information (and skip the background cultural bits if you don't like them).
