Useful and enjoyable- By: alsion, 02 Oct 2008 Having just written a poor review for the Bradt Bosnia guide, this guide is quite a contrast &in my opinion excellent. Bradt gives their authors more freedom than other guides which means each book might not be to everyone's tastes or expectations from the series. Annalisa Rellie to me struck the perfect balance between showing a passion for the country (something often lackingin factual RG/LP guides) yet providing comprehensive & concise information. I did think that there was detailed information about the beaches, although I prefer hiking & found the descriptions of Durmitor & areas around Skadar lake to be very useful & informative. Montenegro is a very small country & we actually walked a large chunk of the coastin a couple of hours one afternoon. I also liked the inserted stories & reader feedback along the way, & Rellie's dose wit without being arrogant like I somtimes find LP authors (there's apparently a humouress twist on the tourist board slogan: "Visit Monetenegro - your car is already here!"). I used public transport & did find the practical information very helpful, although Bradt guides are always going to be phyisically shorter than a RG. I like the independence that Bradt guides give you by providing information on lots of places rather than just hand holding with fine detail on only a few places. And I also simply enjoyed the style of writing of Rellie - very enjoyable.Buy a guide written by someone else!- By: K. Kersey, 16 Sep 2008 It's OK as a general guide to the country & what you might like to go & see although a lot of towns mentioned have very little about what there is to see, including the captial Podgorica. The practical information is not that good & the maps are truly terrible, the one for Cetinje being particularly bad, good job it's not a large town. There is very little beach information as regards how to get to them & whether they're sand or pebbles. There is no information on location or opening times of post offices & the 'mini dictionary' is poor & arrangedin a strange fashion. I imagine the forthcoming Rough Guide will be better than this apology for a travel guide.Much improved, excellent guide; thanks Annalisa Rellie- By: traveler 21, 08 Apr 2008 Annalisa Rellie writesin a somewhat poetic style. She clearly loves this country & I really enjoyed reading the book. I learnt which places to visit & it has helped me figure out where to consider buying real estatein this new country. Thank you Annalisa Rellie & Bradt for a first rate guide. I do not agree with everything Annalisa writes but her erudition left me well informed & excited to visit each spot. I love Montenegro & I love the Bradt Guide. I can't wait to get back to Kotur & Sveti Stefan.
