Little Marinetta gets to dance with her ballet heroine - By: , 13 Jul 2001
My wife got this book from the library for our kids while we were visiting England. I liked reading it to them so much I bought a copy to take back to the US with us.
Marinetta is a little girl who likes to dance around her house. Her uncle brings her to a ballet, & Marinetta decides she'd like to learn ballet & dance with Nina, the prima ballerina. Marinetta starts taking ballet lessons. After she works hard to learn a certain dance, her uncle brings her back to see Nina dance again. Nina becomes ill during the performance & cannot continue. It looks like the show will have to stop until Marinetta goes on stage & finishes the dancein Nina's place. Nina is so impressed that she invites Marinetta to dance with her at another performance, which makes Marinetta's dream come true.
The book is written with a cadence that makes it easy to read out loud to kids, & the illustrations are cute. Our kids liked pointing out various details they noticedin the pictures. I always look forward to reading this book to them.
