Good response to Dawkins - By: Ms. K. Marsh, 01 Dec 2008
This book is a Christian response to Richard Dawkin's "The God Delusion". At first glance one would think it will completely bash Dawkins' book, but it isn't like that. Yes Wilson does point out where Dawkins' is wrong & the flawsin his book, however he does give credit where it is due. Wilson is clear that this is a debate which will rage for years to come, & an issue that should be debated. He talks about what a good writer Dawkins is & gives him all the credit he is due.

As mentioned, this is a Christian response to the debate. Wilson used theologians & the Bible to back up his argument. He uses different styles & techniques to explain where Dawkins went wrong, such as how he does not talk about the resurrection of Christ & how a lot of his arguments don't actually prove there is no God.

I found this a relatively easy & interesting book to read. It is only 112 pages long & there are some pages were the foot notes are longer than the actual paragraphs! This is an informative book which gives another side of the argument to the question of God & whether He exists.

My only criticism was the final chapter, which I did not find easy to read. The debate was centred around evolution & there were a lot of facts & figures I could not get my head around as science is not something I really understand. Apart from that, it was a good, short, detailed book, which presents another side to this ongoing argument.

the spastic theologian - By: Dirk De Bruyne, 19 Jul 2008
I love Richard Dawkins....for he has finally said what few others have dared : that theologians are self-professed doctors of a non-existing science! And they HATE it, are positively convulsingin spastic twirls, angry as hell & fuming at the mouth....writing books left right & centre to refute Dawkins...lol! There will be whole rain-forrests felled for the amount of paper waisted on Jezuit -style argumentsin pile after pile of books trying to "refute" what is so obvious & so self-evident that even a child can understand it : "God" is a thing created by mankind to ease its fear of death....a hokus -pokus thing that is used to validate both good & evil & is so totally alien to science that any well-educated intellectual(but also the sane brained layman) cannot do but refute its so called "existence"...sure, some will write books, some will lament hipocritically at the altar of their cosy institute of conservative "values" butin the privacy of their bed late at night they shiver & turn because they haven't got a clue...not a single shred of evidence....
Inadequate and confused. - By: mahoneko, 12 Jun 2008
This book contains the same old circular reasoning often used to attack arguments which demand evidence. The book is rife with assumptions. Looks like a cheap attempt to cashin on Dawkins's book even down to the blatant copy of the cover!
An embarassment to both its author and his cause. - By: Broga, 24 May 2008
This desperate & intellectually dishonest attempt to refute Dawkins merely adds to his lustre & exposes the tawdriness of the oppostion. The title, no doubt assumed to be rather clever, is merely silly. So sad to see intelligence prostituted is this way.
Circular references, when he bothered. - By: Mr. Jason B. Standing, 23 Apr 2008
I was hoping for a decent rebuttal to The God Delusion when I bought this, although admittedly I didn't go so far as to reading anyone's reviews of it before hitting the BUY button. Nor did I register how many pages werein this book. Had I done so, the best I could have hoped for would be a concise counter-argument, but alas, that's not what this is.

Wilson spends the better part of his book not saying anything - he frequently peppers the text with phrases like "this is so obvious I needn't repeat it here" or "as everyone knows from reading [X]", & soforth... referring to other texts isn't so bad if you include the premise that the other texts establish... this almost seems to serve as a vehicle for selling other pro-God books, as without them you're left largelyin the dark as to what this one's actually referring to.

Wilson opens the book by saying that the piece began life as an article for his church newsletter, & evolved from there. In retrospect I think it should have ended there & not harboured any further aspirations of interest or relevance. Having read it, I intend to post my copy back to the publisher & castigate them for having wasted my time.

Overwhelmingly, the weakest part of this book is that the author refers to Dawkins' statements pointing out the shortfallings of The Bible, & then as counter evidence he refers to.... THE BIBLE! So essentially, This Book is true because This Book says it is & proves it!

I read it to the end (which thankfully didn't take long) hoping to find some nugget of an argument amongst it all, but came up with nothing. Hardly a landmark rebuttal.
