Love it - By: A. Shah, 29 Oct 2007
I love knitting with Debbie Bliss yarn & I find her designs right on.
This book is a great coffee table book with wonderful photos.
The only drawback being that some patterns could do with more photos showing the garmentin detail.
Sometimes some detail may be hard to figure out from the pattern but a good photo would help.
At least Debbie has listened to her readers & knitters & garment messurments are included with little sketches.
I like it. Bliss' designs are improving - By: jazzy pom, 12 Aug 2007
Debbie Bliss' designs have always been good for children: really sweet details, with attention to colourwork, cables & shaping. With adults, her designs was always hit or miss with this writer. But I'm pleased to say that it's improving.
This book has it for the children: sweet details & neat lines. Bliss seems to be experimenting with a variant of rib & cable stitches for both children & adults, & I'm really impressed.
The only draw back is Bliss' yarn subsitution. Her gauges/tension are on this side of wonky (instead of say, a standard stitch of of 10cm having 22x30 she'll fudge with something along the lines of 24x30 so that you're forced to buy the yarn) making you feel 'tied' to the yarn.
The designs are lovely though.
