Good for vocabulary - By: , 06 Jun 2005
This software is very good for a beginner who wishes to increase their vocabulary. There is not much on the language structure but there is a lot of vocabulary to learn, covering a very wide range of topics, through interactive listening & speaking & through different games.
I would recommend this software along with another method of learning - e.g. a book/audio course or lessons with a teacher.
Turkish - By: , 06 May 2003
I found this program very good for a persons first words. It is a very good thing to have if you are intending to go Turkey for a holiday. Yes people may say that it is very Basic, but we must all start somewhere. it is a very adictive program & you can also assess your progress as you go.
After having used this program for a number of weeks now i feel i could now need a programin conversational Turkish, as i have now grasped the basics. My intention is to have Turkish as a second Language & this has helpedin the first few steps.
Overall i have been impressed with this excelent program.
Good Practice Material - By: , 18 Jun 2002
Good software to help build & memorise vocabularyin 8 topic areas. Also useful to let you hear Turkish spoken by Turks. The language games are a bit repetitivein format & the section on useful phrases doesn't really work as it uses the same approach to learning simple lexical items. It would have been better to split these into topic areas as well. Graphics are attractive but are clearly designed for use with multiple languages so there is no real lip-sinc with the video/graphics.
Talk Now Turkish - By: Ann, 08 Jun 2002
"Talk Now - Turkish" is easy to use & fun. There are lots of games & little recording practices which kept me going. The programme keeps a record of progress & I was tickled to be able to print off certificates of progress.
There was no explanation of how Turkish words were formed & I had to go elsewhere for this. This lack of explanation was not necessarily a bad thing as I found that I had absorbed some rules of grammar without noticing.
I recommend it to an absolute beginner like I was four weeks ago.
Fun & Fast Learning - By: , 01 Dec 2000
This CDRom is an excellent tool for anyone beginning to learn Turkish. It has detailed sections including 'First Words', 'Phrases' & 'Shopping'. There are nine categoriesin all, each having 4 interactive sections & a printable dictionary. I found that the quizzes were the most useful tool of all on this CDRom. There is an easy & a hard one for each section &in order to get high points you need to play them repeatedly which of course means you hear spoken turkish again & again & before you know it, you know the words without having to think about them. This CDRom covers most of the basic language that you would need to get by on holidayin such a pleasant way, that you won't need a holiday to recover from your efforts, but you will be itching to go so that you can try out your new found talent!
