Indestructible Paris - By: J. Harrison, 26 Jul 2008
I can't believe that the best feature of this map isn't made clearin the description. It is made of polyester film, therefore it is all but indestructible. Rain, clumsy folding or stuffing into pockets/handbags will do nothing to dim the brilliance of this fine map.
A clear enough scale to read all the street names, without being too large. Also, being indestructible, it can be folded & refolded to show just the part of town you arein (or searching for!)
There are only a couple of minor gripes. Firstly, the map would be better if it extended a way further north, as only half of Montmartre is shown. Secondly, the Metro plan is too small to read easily, & covers only the city centre.
However, a pocket guide to the Metro is easily found, & I feel it is preferable to a map when travelling the Metro. Try unfolding a large map on a commuter-packed train & you'll find out just how rude the Parisians can be(!) Also, it is never a good idea to effectively wave a big `I am a tourist, please rob me' flag on the Metro.
Previously, on my many visits to Paris (Oooh, get her!) I have always bought a map which I have been forced to throwin the bin once I get home, tattered, rain smudged, & torn. This time, however, I'll be keeping my map, even though it won't fold up as it did when it was new.
Brilliant and Reliable! - By: Emma, 05 Sep 2007
As usual the Rough Guide Map was brilliant! It's easy to use, easy to fold & withstood some pretty heavy rain without tearing, smudging or falling apart!
A must when I travel to any city.
