I bought this book for my six year old son, as well as After The War Was Over. Both are perfect for dipping into & inspire endless discussions about what life was likein 'olden times' This book combines a personal story with factual information & wonderful illustrations. Perfect for children who are ready to progress from picture books to chapter booksin terms of content but who like the reassurance of plenty to look atin a book as well as words. A great introduction to history & supports the national curriculum, my older son found it very useful during Year 5 as a reference book.

I found the book very good but very short.It's for readers who are not so good at reading.I love stories about ww2 (world war 2).I find them very good & I rate this book 5 starsin my eyes Michale Foreman is a genius like Ms.Blyton,Mr.dahl & Ms Rowling.I also liked war game also by Michale Foreman Buts Thats another review.
