Don't bother with this - By: L. Chappell, 09 Aug 2008
Don't bother to buy this unless you like very bad writing, a woman who is so 'into' herself & delightsin filthy descriptions of her sex life. Most of her working life with the Royal Household seems to have been spent 'adoring' the Prince of Wales. I tired of the word "Wonderful!" it is so over-used. There are no character descriptions of the royal family at all & the Princess of Wales (the "Bossette") is not highly regarded with her life & loves being dragged through the usual muck with no mention being made of her good works. I'd leave this book on the shelf.
Entertaining, honest and informative - By: Stalder Verena, 22 Mar 2008
Gives an insight how it is to workin the lower ranks among the staffin the royal household. Sarah Goodall's account is very honest & she has a very remarkable self-knowledge for one of her age.
Highly recommended, although admittedly a very light read.
hmm, who told this girl she could write? - By: L. Bretherton, 03 Jan 2008
I know the book was 'co-written' (cough cough), but honestly, you can tell by the photos of her, the woman is as thick as a brick. Lady Clerk clearly means 'typist'. So she got to make up the numbers at a few dinner parties, so she got a tour of Highgrove Gardens, but honestly, unless you are really, really keen on learning about the details of Prince Charles' life, this book is such a waste of paper.
Very Poor...Vomit Inducing - By: M. K. Laidler, 08 Dec 2007
What can I say about this book? Well, more fool me for buying it.
The woman seems deludedin some way, the over glamourisation of Prince Charles grated a great deal by the end of the book.Lots of gossip, lots of pro P of Wales trivia & lots of self belief from the author.
I bought the book at full price a little while ago,but if you can pick this book up at a reduced price & you are a keen fan of Prince Charles, the book would be worth a read.
Oh dear.... - By: Bahma Sivasubramaniam, 30 Oct 2007
I wasted my hard-earned cash on purchasing this book. The blurb on the back cover said that this book was not about the marriage of Prince & Princess of Wales but rather about someone who was working there. Rubbish. There is enough gossip, cattiness & innuendoes by the author on this so-called non-topic. The thing that struck me the most is the amount of nauseous grovelling the author does that springs out of every other page. The Prince of Wales needn't have worried. According to the author "His Gorgeousness" (ugh) is a combination of James Bond, Renaissance Man, Mr. Universe, a saint etc etc...and it goes on ad nauseam. The English have a word describing this kind of behaviour - a combination of a colour + a body part that is attached to the face. It really is sickening. Her prejudice against the late Princess of Wales is so apparent....the innuendoes left nothing to imagination, there was a lot of "damn'd with faint praise" & many other damaging allegations about Diana to the extent when she ends the chapter on Diana's death with "Hail, England's rose" (or words to that effect), I exclaimed loudly "You hypocrite"in the public transport I was travelling in. The author showed neither remorse or sadness on Diana's death & lacked sincerity.
Yes, there are funny moments, but the narration gives a disturbing portrayal of a woman who without conscience sleeps with men whom she knows arein relationships, who makes very poor judgements & tries to make us laugh. I didn't.
I want my money back!
