An Honour - By: Alan Downs, 04 Nov 2008
Having had the honour to work & serve with Tam, it comes as no surprise to me that he maintained his proffessional standards & integrity throughout this ordeal. It is all too typical that the MOD will not back those who serve & lay their lives on the line, the easy way is always taken & they turn their backs on those who give everything for Queen & country. An excellent read, not just for those with a military background, but for all who wish to see the truth come out & justice triumph!! It is a pity that this man who dedicated his life to the Black Watch was not allowed to end his career there, a proud regiment that he loved dearly!!

Warrior: A True Story of Bravery & Betrayalin the Iraq War
If you have any loved ones fightingin another country, you will know what its like to have a piece of you out there existingin danger & at the same time livingin hope for a safe return. Every time you hear the news of someone that has been injured, killed or something happening you pray that the phone will not ring or there is a knock at the door.
Your thoughts are with them, & everyone caught upin the conflict, you hope & pray that people are safe & well. You are reassured that they are with the finest peoplein the world, & believe they are with the best fighting forcein the world i.e. the British Army.
I have read through this book, full of emotion, knowing full well that I am mentioned within it, (I was there at the very start when Tom took his first breath when joining us into this world). As a reader, getting to know Tom, reading about his lifein the army as well as reading the story of his life is like taking a journey on a mental emotional roller coaster, up & down, because of the many twists & turns that happen as a result of reading this book & learning about what has happened.
After being very dedicated, disciplined & full of integrity the very establishment that should have been there to extend integrity & carry out justice sacrificed Tam. This book will stimulate the very best of minds with the twists & turns, & at times you will forget this is based on a real story as you get fully emerged into the reading. However we should all remember this is based on a true story & the MOD should always promote integrity, & that soldier's life's may still be at risk. As a mother this is a truly heart wrenching thought, & I am horrified that something like this could happen.
I am so proud of Tam's fight & standin this matter after his troubled childhood & this is a real testimony to Jessie's love for Tams steel determinationin fighting for the truth. I myself did not support the invasion of Iraq like a number of people but I certainly do not support any motion that Guns that are unsafe should still be out there.
The reason for invading Iraq opens up questions, & so does the way British soldiers are let down by having inadequate equipment, this book reveals the shocking way one very special person was treated after serving his country for 24 years also his loyalty & trust within his superiors.
The MOD has let Tam down very badly, & he was used as a scape goat for political reasons probablyin the name of profit. Regardless, this book will be a worthwhile read for any person servingin the forces, as well as advocates of truth & integarity.
I am so proud of all of his achievementsin life.

A woman's view.... - By: aycliffeangel, 26 Aug 2008
I have had dealings with Tam for over a year, & when I saw the write upin The News of The World recently, regarding Army violence, & advertising the book, I went on a mission to find it.
From the opening page to the end I could not put this book down!! I am not a fan of war books, & wouldn't generally pick one up, however, this was no ordinary book.
Warrior tells the tale of a man setting out to find himself & his past. From discovering his adoption, his unsettled upbringing, his amazingly swift & well deserved run up the military ladder & bringing you right up to date.
The chapters basedin Iraq show an army man with compassion as well as a loyalty to his squad & his vocation. Helping out those Iraqi'sin need, & not hesitating to eliminate those who posed a threat.
His comradeship & friendships forgedin battle come to a head paying the ultimate price for something that was not his fault....
I highly recommend this book to anyone & everyone, dont take the cover as a sign that it is purely a war book, there's a whole life storyin them pages. For the emotional among you, have a box of tissues at the ready!! I had to!!!!!
