Bhagavad Gita: As It Is - By: , 05 Dec 2004
After trawling through many copies & translations of the Gita, i eventually stumbled upon this, & needless to say it's been a long time coming. This version of the Gita, supposedly as it is, is the best version i have found, not justin terms of it's readability, but it's ease of understanding.
It comesin both english & sanskrit with roman transliteration to assits with pronunciation, which proves extremely usefulin helping to understand the text & allows you to appreciate the flow & delivery of the text, & purports after each verse help to build an image of the proceedings of the battle while giving key historical references that help your understanding of the Gita.
The translation is somewhat literal & lacks an aspect of poetry, but the meanings are clear & easy to appreciate & this version clearly deserves 5 stars.
There is also a very useful glossaryin the back to help you understanding of the terms usedin the Gita & some of the historical references. It is well worth looking up some of these references as there are striking similaritiesin some scientific findings & the hindu mythology.
The King of Knowledge - By: , 11 Oct 2004
Spoken over 5000 years ago this book has been translated many times over. This version however is as-it-is. Its an amazing piece of work by the editor & a must for all.
After reading the Gita every other book seems mundane. You just seem to want more & more from the author. Bhagavad Gita is great but this author really tells usin simple & straight forward language. He seems to be selfless & very sincerein his writing. I have read it once & am on my second round. And I find something new each time. I can see myself reading this book all my life again & again. Sometimes when I need an answer itsin this book. And I feel more spiritual & happier too. There are so many books out there which claim to do so much to help make us happy & understand ourselves, life etc. But book seems to do everything. With so much going onin the world..so many changes..terrorism...crime, depression etc this book really opens your eye into what is going on & how we can stay afloat of all such problems & anxieties. It teaches us the essence of Yoga. Who we are. Who is God. Our relationship with each other & our relationship with God. It has done so much for me & for millions of others. I can go on for ages talking about it. Not just how it has helped me & how much I like it but just discussing the phylisophy & book itself. WOW. Go ahead & try this book.
Here is a breakdown of all the chapters.

After buying this book I looked into other books from this author. All look great so I went & purchased them all (Including the 18 Volume Srimad Bhagavatam). Anyway, read the Gita for now. I heard the editor wrote over 70 booksin 11 years. Amazing work. Hope you enjoy reading this masterpiece.
Bhagavd-gita As It Is - By: L Foward, 27 Oct 2002
For people searching for answers to core questions of life i.e. regarding birth, death, why we are forced to grow old as well as experience disease. This book changes ones vision to the reason of existence.
The knowledge expelledin it claims to be different to the respect it has been carefully handed downin a chain of succession without its meaning being changed or altered for thousands of years. This makes it 'different' from more adulterated forms of knowledge as well as other translations of the Bhagavad-gita.
