Michael Haag's The Templars: History & Myth, is the best book I have read on the history of the Knights Templar. Written for the non-academic reader, it nevertheless is a comprehensive, scholarly approach to a fascinating subject. Anyone who subscribes to some of the modern myths & pseudo histories involving the order should read this book.
