Honest, eye opening and worth every penny!!! - By: Affs, 20 Jul 2008
When I started reading this book I found it very difficult to put down!! Nikki Sixx has poured his heart & soul into 'the heroin diaries' & its as fascinating as it is witty &in parts very sad.
A lot of close friends & family members have contributed & often shed Nikkiin a rather negative light (and some embarassing stories for Slash too!) but he doesnt try to sugarcoat anything & admits to being difficult!
I sent a copy of this book to my friend who has been through similar situationsin his life, he's already read it twice & has about 10 people waiting to borrow it!
The layout & artwork of the book is excellent & I'd strongly reccomend you listen to the 'Heroin Diaries Soundtrack' by Sixx AM....Its not very Motley Crue but it's very good, especially the tracks 'Life is Beautiful' & 'Accidents can happen'
Rock & Roll has always been my therapy & now so is this book!
Hmmm...sceptical - By: Napolean, 06 Jul 2008
I can't really say I enjoyed reading this book & it certainly turned into a chore rather than a pleasure.

I can't help thinking these so called 'diary entries' were actually written after he sobered up a few years down the line. I don't know any addicts myself, but I certainly can't imagine them with a needle hanging out of their arm writingin their personal journal or even actually remembering what they did the night before!

If it is true, then he certainly has lived an amazing life, but it all becomes a little self indulgeant at times. He continually complains that he's almost forced into taking drugs to escape the trappings of fame...whatever! Go & sit on a deserted beachin the Carribean for a month, I'm sure that would be a slightly safer option.

Anyway, having read the Motley Crue biography 'Dirt', I wouldn't really recommend this one. Stick with 'Dirt' for a much more interesting & enjoyable story.
Compulsive reading, in a car crash kind of way... - By: Matt_K, 30 Jun 2008
The bulk of the text is Nikki's actual journal entries taken from a year of a very dark timein his life, with various Motley Crue alumni interjecting with their opinions & viewpoints. It makes for compulsive but often quite uncomfortable reading, not so much because of the casual way he talks you through horrific experiences of hard drug addiction but because of things he did...I mean, I've always thought Nikki Sixx is one of the coolest peoplein rock/metal/whatever, but really you just find yourself putting the book down at times & thinking "this guy was a complete d*ckhead!"...the modern-day Sixx says as much himself towards the end of the book. He seems to have undergone a dramatic personality change following the events describedin this book, thankfully.

It's not unlike reading Frey's "A Million Little Pieces", there's something horribly fascinating about it. I was very glad that there's some kind of redemption at the end of it all - Sixx got married (several times) & has a family that he obviously thinks the world of, & even mended fences with his mother & his long-suffering Crue bandmates.

I think I'll go & check out the Sixx AM soundtrack...
I expected more from this but it still gets 5 stars. - By: cruekid2001, 27 May 2008
Even though I gave this 5 stars, I found it still wanting. I am a BIG Crue fan ever since I bought the Too Fast Love Album backin the early 80's. I have met Nikki on 3 occassions, one of them for about half & hour at a barin West Hollywood, & he is by far my favourite member of the Crue. Any hardcore Crue fans will know or have heard about the majority of antics/situations that arise within the pages. This book had been on the verge of being published since forever, & I really wish it had been, especially before 'the Dirt'was released. The reason for this is due to the dirt being a hands down no holds barred kick ass book & Nikki's book does not make the same sort of impact. Don't get me wrong, the heroin diaries is a great book which certainly shows an insight of a freebasing drugs user & it is stil a must buy book. Being the die hard Crue fan that I am, it saddens me to having anything negative to say.
Easy Reading - By: Mrs. Rosealee D. Cady, 12 May 2008
I loved Scar Tissue, Long Hard Road Out Of Hell & now this one as well. They are all writeen as if you were talking to them yourself. Very easy, straight forward & down to earth. I loved Six when I was a teenager, but as a young teen girl, it was all about how hot he was :) I never really thought about his life. It's amazing what people like him & Anthony Keidas live through. I would recommend this book! You will fly through it & enjoy it as well.
