Excellent to learn image interpretation - By: Mr. R. Lowe, 29 Apr 2007
The really great thing about this book is the use of cut sections through frozen cadavers pictured alongside actual U/S images of the same anatomical plane. Dissections or idealised diagrams do not show the real 3 dimensional arrangements of organs, especiallyin the cranial abdomen. After having used ultrasoundin practice for 8 years I felt reasonably experienced but this book improved my understanding & interpretative ability greatly.
A bit disappointing - By: C. R. Lamb, 29 Apr 2004
This certainly is an impressive-looking book & it contains lots ofinformation. On the other hand, the section on principles is very basic, the pancreatic & musculoskeletal images are poor, multiple examples ofcertain lesions are included for no apparent reason, & the clinicalrelevance of some of the Doppler studies is unclear. Great to start into the world of ultrasonography - By: Carolina Monteiro, DVM, 26 Mar 2003
Although the book "Small Animals Diagnostic Ultrasound" from Nyland & Mattoon is considered the bible of small animal ultrasonography, I found this book great to learn, lots of drawings of anatomy & probe placement & every ultrasound image is next to an interpretation drawing, that help those who are starting. Plenty of normal & pathology images, & the most common differential diagnosis. In a few chapters I think is also more complete than “Nyland”. If you are just starting I think this book will definitely help you more to get into the world of ultrasonography. Afterwards when you are more familiarized with the technique, you will need the text bible!
