A must-have for hen keepers! - By: chelra1969, 27 May 2007
A concise, informative book with plenty of advice on chicken health, breeding, housing etc along with some really good egg recipesin part 2 of the book. An excellent buy for anyone starting outin small scale chicken keeping. The little stories at the end of the book are fun too.
A short, friendly book - By: LJ Miles, 11 Oct 2005
The first half of the book gives a introduction to chicken keeping, with a strong emphasis on bantams. The emphasis is more on keeping hens as pets than as livestock. The author pays special attention to bantams. Areas such as medical treatment & raising chicks are covered as well as the basics of housing & feeding.
The second half of the book is dedicated to recipes for using eggs; my hens haven't started laying just yet so I've yet to test this bit.
Hens in the Garden Eggs in the Kitchen - By: , 12 Jan 2004
I decided to buy this book after keeping hens for 7 or so years & still learnt a few things. There is plenty of details about the history of chickens, how to keep them without being tooin depth & over the top that it puts you off. There are tips on how to keep hens healthy & use the stock of eggs you will get.
