A nice collectors item - By: Grey'um, 28 Sep 2008
I first tried ordering this from here a couple of days after it released, but the order was cancelled when the supplier could not fulfil it. Turned out waiting was a mistake, because as you know, it pretty much sold out completely within the day! Anyhow, after many e-mails & telephone calls, I managed to find a local store who had an employee with a copy they had read & no longer wanted. £5 & a bottle of wine later, my gift to an avid Harry Potter collector was finallyin my hands.
Sure, to me it's not worth £5 at all, not for the two pages that people are buying it for. Evidently though, it's a sought after thing now, as the prices on here & eBay reflect that. As a result, it gets 5 stars for making one Harry Potter collector very happy.
A prequel to Harry Potter you say... - By: N. Preskey, 07 Sep 2008
Yes, this postcard book does contain a two postcard long prequel to Harry Potter regarding the escapades of James & Sirius but it's nothing all that exciting. Not a lot happens, definitely not five pounds worth anyway. However, there is something strangly pleasing about seeing J.K.R's workin her own fair hand.
Some of the other postcards are quite entertaining & possibly more interesting than the Harry Potter prequelin their own way. However, you are much more likely to get something out of this book if you are a fan of one of the authors. Among the famous names contributing are: Nick Hornby, Michael Rosen, Nick Hornby, Sebastian Faulks, Lauren Child & a lot more besides.
My advice is pick this up as cheap as you can, probably second hand if you're just going to read the Harry Potter Prequel & then toss it to one side. This is a nice gift for a real bookworm or very avid Harry Potter fan, but you may find it's not worth its original price tag of £5.
