Life Saving book for people with allergies. - By: C. V. Burdett-Clark, 15 Nov 2008
Since being diagnosed with multiple allergies backin April I have found it hell trying to have any sort of normal life when it comes to food. You buy the free from foodin the shop & you know for instance that you are about to eat a pizza. BUT when you eat it your brain say's this is nothing like what pizza taste likes. So I had spent months struggling to find nice tasting alternatives. I then came across How to Cook for Food Allergies & everything changed.
This book not only gives you great tasting recipes that even my husband can't tell the difference between normal & an alternative recipe. But it also gives you tips on alternatives for foods so you can think for yourself & use the correct replacementin your own recipes. It has made eating enjoyable again & for the first timein ages I know that I can sit down & enjoy a meal with no worry or anxiety but plenty of flavour & taste.
She even helps by giving you tips on eating out!!! - A real angel.
Absolutely Brilliant! - By: John Wakefield, 28 May 2008
Over the years, I've tried lots of different allergy-free cookbooks. This one puts them all to shame. There's no "for egg-free cake, use egg replacer"in here. Proper recipes with proper ingredients. A must have. The best, by a long, long way!
Best of the bunch! - By: D. Parker, 06 Mar 2008
I highly recommend this one... easily the best food allergy cookbook around - easy to use & it demonstrates that allergy free cooking does not have to taste grim!
Cooking for allergies without compromise! - By: R. Goss, 16 Feb 2008
This book is an invaluable resource for those with food allergies. The layout of the recipes gives you guidance to adapt each one to a range or combination of allergies & there are tips on how to get good results with the variationsin ingredients. There is also a wealth of useful advice covering a range of areas such as eating away from home & alternative sources of nutrients & vitamins.
The recipes are a wonderful mix of contemporary style dishes & traditional staples & baking. For those like myself with a wheat allergy, the recipes for scones & pastry & other off-limits foods will be the first things tested from the book & to taste foods which do not require the normal compromises on flavour & texture is absolutely wonderful.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough!
Stress free cooking - By: Madeleine Quine, 27 Jan 2008
At last, after all my tears & frustrations trying to make a gluten, dairy & nut-free bread, I have found a recipe that not only works but tastes delicious. The gluten-free white bread is a big hit with our four year old daughter & has made a huge difference to our lives as she can now have toast, sandwiches & rolls.
I feel like a proper mummy baking delicious cakes for the children which we can now all enjoy. I have also had great fun adapting various family recipes using Lucinda's techniques. Her book is a must for all people coping with the challenges of living with food allergies.
