I used this guide on holidayin 2002. On the plus-side it did lead me to explore towns & villages that I would probably otherwise have omitted from my schedule, which would have been my loss. The information provided is detailed, & useful if you want local history. On the down-side all the information on the towns & villages is referenced alphabetically, rather than by area. So, if you want to find out about the villages around Narbonne, for example, you will need to consult a map & look up each village separately, which is obviously time consuming & not something you feel like after a nice afternoonin a village cafe!
The contents include an introduction to the region, list of sights, practical information, thematic maps, town plans, monuments & sights & regional touring maps.
All in, not really suitable if it's the only book you are taking, but for more detailed information or if you already know the area, very useful
