We could not have survivedin Cardiff without this book! For a capital city Cardiff had very few good restaurantsin 2008.

I was at a hotel complaining about how I no longer felt that I could trust the advise given to me by friends, the internet, or guides about the state of holiday accommodation, especiallyin London. I noticed some guides on a bookshelf & started to read. I looked up accommodation that I had used & compared the comments with my own recollections. The ONLY guide that seemed to be true was the Michelin guide, so I bought a copy.

One of the things I like about the guides is that they encourage recommendations from their readers. It means that they are constantly revising & re-checking their information. If you know of any stunningly good small boutique hotels please let them know.

It is now the ONLY guide I use for accommodation. I use the restaurant recommendations on the first night of a stay, then try to use word of mouth from then on. Word of mouth generally provides some more unusual holiday memories!
