A must for students of Jainism- By: , 14 Nov 2005 I read this book as it was required reading for my Jainism module, along with P. Dundas "The Jains", & I found this text to be indispensable. I have given only 4 stars as a student of the subject would find it necessary to refer to other texts, particularly Dundas. However, the Dundas work can be over-complicated & slightly confusing at first, & i found that starting with the relevant chaptersin "The Jaina Path Of Purification" provides an in-depth but much more easy-to-read analysis of the tradition, providing the basic knowledge needed to approach more complicated texts. I certainly never approach any reading or essays on Jainism without first refering to this great book. (Anyone who is not studying Jainism but has a vague interestin the tradition would do well to read this)
