So, how did a fellow from the Midlands end up being a bestselling author? Child's journey kicked off in Birmingham, where he grew up and later nabbed a law degree from the University of Sheffield. But, plot twist — he never fancied being a lawyer. Instead, he darted over to Manchester to work at Granada Television.
